SUMMARY:Magnificat (CPE Bach) & Magnificat (Tarney)
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS AVAIALBLE ON THE DOOR FROM 7PM TONIGHT!\n\n\nWe are per
forming two very different settings of the Magnificat. \n\nThe first is
by C P E Bach (son of J S Bach) and was written in 1749. It was his first
large scale work and is considered to be a brilliant achievement. The musi
c shows his father's influence but also looks forward to the music of Hayd
n and Mozart.\n\nOur second Magnificat was composed in 2014 (revised 201
 9)  by Oliver Tarney. He is a significant young composer of choral works\
, and has visited us to help prepare our performance. His setting includes
the words of the traditional Magnificat but is augmented by texts from
other religions.\n\nWe have an impressive lineup of young soloists:.\n\nSi
ân Roberts – soprano\n\nSiân completed her studies at the Royal Birmin
gham Conservatoire under the guidance of Amanda Roocroft. She has since es
tablished herself as a versatile and expressive young artist\, noted for h
er clear\, communicative singing and compelling stage presence.\n\nSamanth
 a Lewis – alto\n\nSamantha is a Shropshire mezzo-soprano celebrated for
her warm\, expressive tone\, compelling stage presence\, and deep commitme
nt to making opera and song accessible to all. Samantha is currently touri
ng a recital programme celebrating composers and poets from along the rout
 e between John O’Groats and Land’s End\n\nNiki Zohdi – tenor\n\nNiki
  Zohdi is a British/Persian composer\, tenor & conductor. Niki is a tenor
both as a soloist\, in the professional choir Luminatus\, and in the choir
of Sheffield Cathedral. He is also a co-founder of the Yorkshire-based vo
cal ensemble\, Vivify. As a conductor\, Niki is a resident conductor at th
e Bled Contemporary Music Festival (Slovenia)\n\nAlexander Pratley – bas
