A concert combining Handel's spellbinding account of the Nativity with traditional and modern Christmas carols - a great start to the festive season.

Haydn: Harmoniemesse

Paul Carr: Seven Last Words from the Cross

 

Haydn's last major work, featuring a large wind section; ('Harmoniemesse' means 'Wind Band Mass'). Premiered in April 2013, Paul Carr's work interpolates the last words of Christ with material drawn from a diverse range of sources.

Puccini: Messe di Gloria

John Rutter: Feel the Spirit

 

Puccini's ravishing and opera-like setting of the Mass is the ideal counterpoint to John Rutter's deeply moving settings of seven popular spirituals.

Tickets

Wetherby concert tickets for our 2019/20 season are £17 each (£18 for the Messiah/Carol concert at Christmas), but free to those aged under 18.

Tickets can be obtained from the Ticket Manager by telephone: 07860 454894, or by email. They can also be obtained from Nicolla Florist, 1 Bank Street, Wetherby, LS22 6NQ, telephone: 01937 585233.

Other ticket sources are Choral Society members, and usually at the church on the evening of the concert - unless they have sold out beforehand, of course.
